Katania

I have 13 years’ experience working as a homebased childcare educator, I have 5 children & 1 grandchild. I have a level 4 Certificate in Early Childhood Practice and attend regular professional development opportunities such as workshops and seminars to maintain my own up-to-date understanding of new strategies and understandings of child development.

I believe strongly in peaceful positive parenting and know that children flourish in a learning environment where they feel love, connection, are respected and build strong relationships with each other and me.

Each child is unique and I believe that children learn best using a play-based model, where each child follows their own interests, extending and developing at their own pace. I teach by role-modelling caring behaviours as well as guiding children to explore emotions and feelings.

I provide children with an environment at my home that supports imaginative play opportunities where they can access things themselves for growing their independence, we also do play-based nature learning in my garden and visits to our wonderful natural environments in our community, exploring insects and life cycles, gloop and water play, craft, painting and many more activities.

With a ratio of only 4 children to one adult, and a possible age range of infancy to school age, children also have the opportunity to learn from and teach, each other fostering nurturing, caring behaviour as they grow together.
