To support both our current Home Based Educators as well as our NEW Educators who are operating as registered home based educators with us in the Tauranga region, we provide the opportunity to gain the NZ Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care (Level 4) free of study fees and course costs!*
To be eligible you must:

1) be actively working with us as a Home Based Educator,

2) be working and living in the wider Tauranga region

3) have the passion to pursue a career in Early Childhood Education.

Please note! This offer is only to those living and working in the wider Tauranga region, NZ, and is only available to educators in our region who are working with us, Inspired Kindergartens and Home Based Education. 

If you are an overseas student on a student visa, unfortunately this offer does not apply to you.


Inspired Home Based Educators have access to:
  • a FREE NZ Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care (Level 4) study programme
  • PLUS + our experienced visiting teachers will provide dedicated, one-on-one learning support and guidance as you contract with us as a Home Based Educator in the Tauranga Region.
Did you know?
The NZ Ministry of Education now requires home based educators and other early childhood workers to hold a Level 4 Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care.

As a home based educator with us, you'll access the Level 4 Certificate free of charge, and enjoy the support of our dedicated senior staff along your learning journey.

New Zealand Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care (Level 4)

  • What will I learn?

    The qualification has three modules:

    • Early Childhood Practice for Young Children's Wellbeing - 20 credits
    • Understanding Young Children's Learning and Development - 20 credits
    • Professional Practice for Early Childhood Education and Care - 20 credits

  • How much time will it take?

    •  Each 20 credit course takes 16 weeks (So 3 x 16 weeks to complete).
    •  We anticipate that most will be able to complete the study requirements around their normal working hours. Per week you'll need to be available for 7 hours study + 3 hours practical learning with children (this component can be included in your normal hours as an educator). So that's roughly 1.4 hours study each night Mon - Fri.

  • What support will I have?

    Our experienced senior visiting teachers will be on-hand to support you during your learning journey as a Home Based Educator. This includes academic coaching while you are studying, as well as professional development and mentoring as you practise as a Home Based Educator working for Inspired Kindergartens Home Based Education. 

  • How much does it cost?

    Usually it costs $1,455 NZD. However, for a limited time we are able to offer the L4 Certificate programme free of charge. All costs are covered for educators registered with Inspired Kindergartens Home Based Education.

  • What other career pathways become available to those who have completed the Level 4 Certificate?

    The qualification provides you with the necessary skills and the NZ Ministry of Education-required qualifcation needed to work in New Zealand as a Home Based Educator. 

    Other career pathways may include employment as:

    • an educator alongside registered teachers in some early childhood centres, 
    • a nanny,
    • an educator in hospital-based services,
    • or as a certificated playgroup coordinator.
